I am an entrepreneur who loves ideas, dynamic people, and things done well. I'm passionate about aesthetics, design, culture, travel, and my wife and daughter. I live in Nashville, Tennessee, an energetic and growing city of which I'm proud to be a part.
I've been a professional musician since I was sixteen, and spent a good amount of time writing, performing, touring, and recording with a variety of artists. For a while I also operated my own recording studio and production company, which I exited in 2007. I wrote a book about the pursuit of a music career called Making It , with music attorney/artist manager, Matt Crumpton. I continue to write and play with the talented people I'm lucky to know here in Music City, USA.
I began working in the wine trade in 2008 and did my first (very small) LBO when I bought out a Nashville-based fine wine and spirits retailer, The Wine Shoppe at Green Hills. I oversaw $15 million in sales as we restructured and repositioned the business, which we then sold to new investors in mid-2013. While I still do some consulting to the trade, I also write for a variety of publications, including USA Today, The Tennessean, and Gannett Syndication on the topics of wine and business.
I've always had a passion for real estate and the spaces we inhabit, so Carrie (my wife and business partner) and I launched a real estate investment and development company, Domaine Development, in 2013. While we're interested in all asset classes, we focus our energy on residential and mixed-use infill development, repositioning, and adaptive re-use projects. More on Domaine Development this way >
In addition to real estate, I help develop and invest in unique business ideas and look for joint-ventures to develop, restructure, and/or turn around various companies and assets. I hope we might work together sometime. Want to connect? Reach me here >
